The Addictions Counselor implements clinical support services as directed by the Clinical Director, facilitates daily Group sessions, and collaborates with participants in the formulation of the Treatment and Discharge Plans. The Counselor works in conjunction with Peer Recovery Coaches to encourage clients throughout their recovery journey in a manner that is respectful, therapeutic, and free from abuse, neglect, and exploitation
Support Services
-Assist participants in recovery by offering techniques for managing addiction behaviors.
-Lead crisis management strategy activities as communicated by the supervisor and other pertinent staff.
-Collaborate with participants doctors, nurses, case managers, and other community partners to identify best treatment outcomes.
-Educate and empower participants to utilize recovery support services and strategies.
-Conducts individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews.
-Completes Biopsychosocial assessment.
-Involve families and significant others in participants recovery process whenever possible.
-Assist in recruiting and orienting new clients into the SUD program.
-Attend and participate in treatment plan, all staff, and other pertinent service-delivery meetings and trainings.
-Relay ideas and concerns to the direct supervisor to ensure client needs are met.
-Adhere to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), ethics, professional boundaries and anti kickback regulations, and medicaid fraud laws.
-Other related duties as determined by the supervisor.
Documentation
-Complete service notes, intake, assessments. incident reports, medication observation/administration in accordance with agency policy and procedures.
-Document medication usage for prescription and over-the-counter medication as ordered by a physician and in accordance with State and Agency rules, statutes, and policy and procedures
Active ADT Trainee from the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors.
One year experience.
