Description:
This two-day training presentation is designed to educate and empower peer recovery specialists and behavioral health staff on the unique challenges and needs of Pregnant Women and Women with Children (PWWC) navigating recovery. Through guided discussions, group exercises, and interactive role-plays, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to offer meaningful, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive peer support.
The training explores the foundational principles of peer support, the impact of stigma and labeling, and the barriers PWWC face when seeking treatment. It emphasizes the importance of self-awareness, setting healthy boundaries, and staying within the scope of the peer role ("staying in your lane").
