Motivational Interviewing Skills for Sexual Health Groups is a 1-day course that provides an overview on the effectiveness of Motivational Interviewing (MI) to address various behavior changes, and builds understanding of the process of individual change in healthcare settings. MI helps providers enhance the client-provider relationship, specifically in addressing treatment needs, goal-setting, and understanding and incorporating the client’s personal concerns. The course introduces the rationale and need to discuss health risks and behavior change with clients and equips providers with the necessary knowledge and comfort in using MI skills effectively with clients in a group setting. An overview of the processes and skills utilized in this intervention are taught using didactic and interactive exercises to demonstrate how providers are able to garner client involvement in the behavior change process. **Please note: The October 22 training is offered ONLY as part of the larger Sexual Health in Recovery Facilitator Certification course. This date is not available for registration for those who want to take only this single training. Additional training dates for this module will be available in 2025.**
