The Peer Recovery Coach provides non-clinical services to support clients establishing recovery from alcohol and/or drug use. The Peer Recovery Coach works in conjunction with the clinical team to provide peer support and inspiration to encourage clients throughout their recovery journey in a manner that is respectful, therapeutic, and free from abuse, neglect, and exploitation

Responsibilities

Support Services
-Mentor participants implementing goals developed in treatment and discharge plans.
-Supervise community outings such as volunteer opportunities and AA/NA meetings.
-Assist participants in acquiring, improving, and retaining skills in self-help, general household management meal preparation, personal finance management, socialization and other adaptive areas.
-Educate and empower participants to utilize recovery support services and strategies
-Upon request, attend health-related appointments with participants and promote self advocacy, where necessary, communicate effectively on his/her behalf.
-Process Intake of new admissions in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
-Administer medication - If in possession of a Certified Medical Technician document.
-Participate in treatment plan, all staff, and other pertinent service-delivery meetings and trainings.
-Relay ideas and concerns to the direct supervisor to ensure client needs are met.
-Adhere to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), ethics, professional boundaries and anti kickback regulations, and medicaid fraud laws.
-Assist in recruiting and orienting new clients into the SUD program.
-Other related duties as determined by supervisor

Documentation
-Complete service notes, intake, incident reports, medication observation/administration in accordance with agency policy and procedures.
-Document medication usage for prescription and over-the-counter medication as ordered by a physician and in accordance with State and Agency rules, statutes, and policy and procedures.

Qualifications

2 years sobriety
1 year SUD experience.
