Position Overview

JOB SUMMARY:
The Peer Support Specialist supports individuals in their recovery through individual and group meetings that provide information, dispel myths, and inspire hope.  The Peer Support Specialist assists with care coordination.

Responsibilities

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
·         Meets individually and in groups to facilitate recovery through providing education and inspiring hope.

·         Serves as a role model.

·         Assists in care coordination.

·         Assists in conducting peer support activities and support groups.

·         Attends treatment team meetings as requested and shares information gathering from the patients to assist with the development and updating of treatment plans.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES : 

·         Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance

·         Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of situations

·         Must be able to apply sound judgement

·         Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to detail

·         Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis

·         Must be organized
