NEW CPRS REQUIREMENTS - EFFECTIVE September 1, 2025

In April 2025, IC&RC identified there would be changes to the requirements for the Peer Recovery Credential. Effective July 3, 2025, IC&RC launched the inclusion of Harm Reduction into the Domain process for the Peer Recovery Examination.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR THE MARYLAND CREDENTIAL

  1. TRAINING HOURS - There will be a new requirement of 4 additional training hours required in the Harm Reduction Domain for Peer Recovery Specialist. Instead of 46 hours of training and education, all CPRS applicants will be required to complete 50 Domain hours of training.

  2. SUPERVISION HOURS - There will be an additional 5 hours of Peer Supervision for the Harm Reduction Domain. Instead of 25 hours of Peer Supervision, the requirement will not be a total of 30 Peer Supervision hours.

This will apply to all applications submitted AFTER September 1, 2025.
