Harm Reduction for Peers: Meeting People Where They Are But Not Leaving Them There

Overview

This training will define harm reduction, provide national perspectives as well as best practices, and challenge peers to identify and address values and biases.  Participants will be provided an overview of harm reduction strategies and how they vary by Maryland county and well as earn the benefits of harm reduction.  Stigma, as it relates to harm reduction, will be discussed and techniques peers can utilize to reduce stigma will be provided.  Harm Reduction resources will be provided to support peer's role as resource broker. Finally, peer participants will be challenged to utilize this information in specific situations a peer might face doing harm reduction work.
