The primary objective of this Peer Workforce Development Skills Training is to empower peer support specialists with the knowledge, tools, and confidence necessary to excel in employment settings. Specifically, this course aims to:
1. Enhance Interview Readiness
•Equip peers with professional self-presentation techniques—including appearance, storytelling, and interpersonal communication—to increase confidence and effectiveness in interviews.
2. Cultivate Essential Employment Competencies
•Introduce critical “hard” and “soft” skills (e.g., active listening, goal-setting, self-awareness, coping strategies, and healthy boundary-setting) that hiring managers commonly seek in peer support roles.
3. Develop Resume Writing Capabilities
•Guide peers through creating impactful, peer-specific resumes that clearly reflect recovery experiences, transferable competencies, and professional goals.
4 . Strengthen Documentation Best Practices
•Provide peer support specialists with practical, ethical, and structured approaches to accurately document peer interactions, recovery progress, and service delivery according to industry standards.
By the end of this training, participants will demonstrate increased self-assurance in interviews, a firm grasp of sought-after workplace skills, the ability to craft a peer-focused resume, and competency in professionally documenting peer support activities.
