Recovery & Wellness for Peer Recovery Specialists is a 2-day in-person training that provides participants with the knowledge and skills to become certified in Maryland. Participants will learn the threats to wellness; the principles and elements of recovery; how to assist individuals in setting and reaching goals that support recovery and wellness; how to identify and respond to signs of distress; techniques, skills, and tools that can help overcome threats to recovery and wellness; a basic understanding of Mental Health First Aid, Trauma-Informed Care, the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), and Harm Reduction; and the importance of cultural and linguistic competence in peer support. The training is interactive and includes discussion, role play, and written exercises.
Participants must be Prince George’s County residents or work/volunteer at an agency or organization in Prince George’s County.
