This training will provide attendees with an overview of the individual and structural challenges faced by justice-involved individuals, the benefits of (MAT), and will underscore the critical role that providers in community and outpatient settings during community reentry based on different levels of relationship dynamics: parents and caregivers, children of those incarcerated people, spouses and partners, and community as a whole. The audience for this training is those who provide trauma-informed services and treatment, mainly clinical and allied care staff. This can also be open to a general internal audience.

Session will be focusing, for most, on one of the first core units of support for formally incarcerated individuals of all ages, their parents, and caregivers. This dynamic can be a source of strength but also long-term trauma, so how can providers support reconnecting relationships in ways that are healthy and sustainable to prevent overdose? There will be a discussion of research pointing out how incarceration can affect families over time, and what, if any, responsibilities families have in keeping their newly released family member on a path of recovery.
