Applying for Social Security Disability Benefits can be an important and necessary step in someone’s recovery journey. This training will teach participants how to effectively complete the application for Social Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits and successfully support a peer through the process. Participants can expect to gain an understanding of each type of benefit, their eligibility criteria, and how to navigate and complete each part of the benefit application. Participants can expect to build skills in how to identify and share relevant medical record information, how to document work history, and how to be a resource in communicating with local Social Security Administration offices.
The training will be facilitated by Mary-Beth Twigg, RPS, CPRS. Mary-Beth has a wealth of knowledge and direct experience supporting peers through the SSI/SSDI benefits application process and will be available to answer questions at the end of the training.
