Information presented at the Trauma Informed Care Summit two-day educational event will increase the participants' awareness about the trauma people experience and the impact it has on them. Participants will enhance their current understanding of how a person’s experience, relationship, and rapport can make interventions more successful. People who are educated in the field of trauma and some who have personal experiences of trauma will teach participants how to reach those who suffer from trauma, how to communicate with them, and what will help them find a place of calmness. Participants will leave the two-day event understanding the physical, emotional, and social impact of trauma and what they can do to make a difference in the lives of traumatized people.

Each agency, organization, or business attending the summit will understand that trauma informed care is a framework. It is the hope of the summit committee that each entity represented will begin to incorporate trauma informed care into their culture and physical environment and continue educating themselves more fully on the trauma informed care approach.

Most importantly, all attendees will remember the trauma-informed perspective “What happened to you?” instead of “What’s wrong with you?”
